According to several sources, both parties reached an "amicable" agreement in the matter, so Mientkiewicz was obviously looking for a little extra dough for the ball, rather than simply keeping it for symbolic reasons. Nonetheless, he made the right decision in allowing this historic ball to be on display in Cooperstown.

what the hall doesnt know is that Mienkiewicz gave them a ball he found in the Royals dug out a few weeks ago...
